چکیده

Wastewater use in agriculture is a high-potential alternative for coping with water scarcity. The present study aimed to evaluate the impact of using wastewater and sewage sludge on soil attributes an irrigated maize plantation Brazilian northeastern semi-arid region, at experimental reuse unit. Two plots were installed following treatments: sludge, irrigation only. presence reduced salt content promoted increase organic matter content, reducing salinization risk. Biometric parameters showed no spatial dependence. On other hand, moisture, electrical conductivity, sand clay sodium potassium contents strong dependence treatment application.

Evaluation of the microbiological quality of wastewater effluent-irrigated maize

Background and Aim: Water crisis in many regions of the world especially arid and semi-arid areas such as Iran, is an important obstacle for socioeconomic development and food security. Under such circumstances, wastewater reuse in agriculture can be regarded an important alternative water source. However, treated wastewater may contain some types of pathogenic microorganisms which can threaten...

Maize productivity and nutrient use efficiency in Western Kenya as affected by soil type and crop management

Low soil fertility and high weed infestation are the main culprits for the declining maize production inWestern Kenya. Technology packages to address these constraints exist, but their effectiveness is likely to be influenced by variability in soil types and farm management practices in the region. Trials were conducted during the 2008/2009 cropping seasons to investigate the nutrient use e...
